Be a Film Star with Outspark
Could you be Outspark’s new Film Star?
On Saturday 23rd May 2026 - at a location close to your school - Outspark will be making a new short film. This film will track the endeavours of a brave group of Duke of Edinburgh participants, as they navigate themselves through the Chiltern Hills. Meals will need cooking, tents pitched, challenges solved and maps orientated. All under the watchful gaze of a professional film crew and the Outspark staff team. Of course, this isn’t a real DofE expedition, but it’ll certainly look like one and provide a great account of the DofE experience.
I’m a parent - what do I do?
We will need consent from you to use the video for marketing purposes. It’s a simple Google Form that will be sent to you in a letter once you’ve agreed that your child will be participating. The school will be providing a trusted adult to accompany the children for the day, and of course the film crew and at least two Outspark members of staff will with them also.
If you have any questions about the video, then please contact Kirsty Smith at the school on ksmith@cottesloe.bucks.sch.uk
Outspark takes safeguarding and wellbeing seriously and you can read our Filming & Photography Policy by following the link.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who would like to learn more about how filmmakers work their craft. The video will be added to the main page of the Outspark website and will act as an inspiration to schools, families, youth organisations and policy makers. You will see how film direction works, be given guidance on authentic acting, spend time with friends and create something important and meaningful.
What do I have to do?
The exact location and the timings of the day will be provided to you by Kirsty Smith at school. The day will likely start around 10am and finish in the early evening. You will need to bring lunch, a water bottle and appropriate clothing for the weather. Outspark will bring all of the equipment and props needed to make it look like a DofE expedition. We will also bring a hearty supply of snacks and goodies.
If you would like to take part, please let Kirsty Smith know and we will then forward to you the location, exact timings and link to the online consent form. We’ll also send a kit list of what to bring, but checking the weather forecast the day before is advised. See you on the 23rd!
