..you are no doubt doing a brilliant job. However, there may be aspects of the expedition element of the award that could be challenging: risk assessing routes, finding campsites, gaining consent, organising teams. Maybe you are running DofE in-house and are looking for support from an AAP for the first time?
The Expeditions in Schools handbook that is available to read and download on this page - totally for free - could really help you. There are tips and hints on how to run expeditions well, plus lots of practical advice on what to do before a waterproof jacket or walking boot has been put on.
You might also pick up some good ideas for teaching navigation from the Expedition Handbook - all our participants get the printed version. Of course, handbooks can only do so much.
