SGS Outdoor Challenge 2026

Welcome to Outdoor Challenge!

We’re looking forward to welcoming a new group of SGS boys to this trip, which has been running since 2007. The information shown here is from the 2025 trip - we’ll update it with any minor changes nearer the time, and when we set the day for the team formations meeting an email will come out to you all. For those attending the trip, you’ll also need to complete the consent form at the bottom of this page.

A few FAQs:

Is the trip open to those who study Spanish?

Yes - if you’re not already booked onto the Spanish trip, you’re welcome to attend this one.

Is there a limit on how many can attend?

Yes - there’s a hard stop of 46 places due to the constraints of minibus and driver availability. The school operates a waiting list so don’t despair!

What secures a place on the trip?

Usually, if you’ve succeeded in paying a deposit on ParentPay, you’re in. The school office keeps a close eye on numbers as they head towards the maximum of 46. If you are eligible for Pupil Premium support, the school can usually help with costs and make sure you don’t miss out; in other cases of financial hardship that would prevent you participating, please contact the school in the first instance and we at Outspark may be able to offer some bursary assistance.

Cycling - a plea

Every year we have at least one, last year several boys who can’t (or don’t think they can) ride bikes. Last year school staff worked wonders with them during the mountain biking activity so that boys who were very wobbly at the start were zipping around by the end of the morning. But it’s so much better for them to be able to hit the ground pedalling! We’ll always support whoever is on the trip to have the best time they can, but this is a great opportunity to have a deadline for your boy to catch up on a life-enhancing skill if he isn’t already a competent cyclist.
